Back in August, our students from our Math Olympiad training class participated in the Southeast Asian Mathematical Olympiad (SEAMO) competition. Recently, we were excited to receive the results of the math contest!
Future Academy student tops the Primary 2 Singapore cohort
The standout performer from Future Academy is Julien, our Primary 2 student who clinched the TOP rank amongst all other P2 competitors in Singapore! He achieved the feat by scoring the most points out of all other competitors in his grade level, landing him a Gold Medal. Coming in close is one of his classmates at rank 4.
We would like to applaud both their hard work and excellent results at this year’s SEAMO, and look forward to continued good performance in their future endeavours!

Commendable performance amidst tough competition
Overall, our Primary 2 class of students did well in the competition. A total of 3 of our Primary 2 students achieved medals, out of only 15 in Singapore who managed to get a medal.
Across the board, the competition seems to have been very stiff, as less than half of Singapore-registered participants received any medal at all. Thus, we are happy to see that our students still performed well and did us proud!
First time hearing about SEAMO? It may not be a familiar name yet, as SEAMO was only established 5 years ago in 2016.
Based in Singapore, SEAMO is open to participants globally. According to their organisers, the competition has been seeing rising popularity, with over 50,000 students already participated since its first year.
As a math Olympiad contest, SEAMO distinguishes itself by emphasising on critical thinking skills, drawing connections between concepts and ideas, and creative problem solving.
Future Academy’s Math Olympiad Training
Although known for classes such as our IP Math Tuition, we also run our own Future Academy’s Math Olympiad Training class! We coach mainly primary school students to dissect and tackle challenging Math Olympiad questions, preparing them for local, regional, and international math competitions like SEAMO. In fact, SEAMO is only one out of the few competitions that we regularly enrol our students in!
We believe that Math Olympiad is a wonderful platform for young students to hone their skills and interest in Math, while also adding to their list of achievements which will help them stand out in DSA applications or even scholarship applications. To help students achieve these, our team of Math Olympiad tutors include past national team Olympiad coaches and medal winners to guide our young talents along.
So, if your child has a passion and/or talent in Math that you wish to let them explore, we strongly encourage you to let them develop it with us here at Future Academy!
