Browse Sample Notes From Our IP & Secondary Chinese Tuition

Chinese in secondary school is a subject that you cannot study by reading the textbook. The biggest challenges in the exam are reading comprehension and essay writing, which you can’t actually study for!

Instead, excelling in these areas requires practice in the relevant skills of reading and writing. Many students end up practicing blindly, in hopes they will eventually ‘get’ the answering technique.

However, we know there is a better way to do it! By breaking down the task into different skills and areas you can work on, you can practice with purpose and master the abilities you need to conquer the exams.

Take a look at some of our sample lesson notes to see how it’s done!

Comprehension

Being aware that there are different types of comprehension questions can help students understand which type of answers they need to provide. Our tutors use this to explain direct literal questions to paraphrasing and inference questions, and identify types of questions that the student may need more work with.

Essay writing

One method of learning is by imitation, and that’s where our essay samples come into the picture. Our example essays are sorted according to genre and type of essays (descriptive vs argumentative), and also include guiding questions and annotations to help students understand what makes these essays work. On top of that, our handy keyword lists consolidate useful phrases and idioms for students to learn and use in their writing.

Sample marked work

Here’s what you get as a student of our secondary or IP Chinese tuition class! Personalised feedback on your work, especially essays, are immensely beneficial for helping you improve. Our tutors typically dedicate a lot of time and effort into offering suggestions and comments, letting you view your own work in a different perspective.

By professional educators

Not everyone who knows Chinese can be a Chinese teacher. Our tutors have taught in local and international schools, bringing with them vast experiences of teaching Chinese in various contexts. Their expertise can be seen through their meticulously prepared resources, teaching, and feedback given.

Guided practice

Practising without an aim won’t bring you far. That’s why, through analysis of examples, skills-based learning, and detailed feedback, we provide students with a direction to work towards. Our small class size allows for high levels of student-teacher engagement, enabling each student to receive ample personal guidance through consultations with their tutor.
