October to November: Research on secondary schools

You shouldn’t wait until PSLE results are released to do your research on how things work. Starting now, it is a great time to read up about potential schools for your child. You may also want to find out if your child can benefit from being in an affiliated primary school, understand more about the new subject banding system, and what are some strategies people use to rank their school options in the posting exercise.

Knowing how to make the most of your options can increase your child’s chances of successfully getting into their desired school. Use this time to talk to your child and understand their preferences as well.

Optional things to do:

  • If you have recently moved house, ensure that your child’s primary school has your new address. In the event your child does not get posted into any of their 6 options, they will be posted to a school based on residential address.
  • If you/your child cannot be present to collect the PSLE results personally, you can nominate another adult to do so for you by filling in a proxy form.

Late November: PSLE Results Release Day

The date for the release of 2023 PSLE results is Wed, 22 Nov 2023 (confirmed). On the day, the results will be released at 11am.

Along with your child’s results, you will also get to know the available Posting Groups (1, 2, or 3) that your child can apply to. These Posting Groups correspond to the existing streams Express, Normal (Academic), and Normal (Technical). Find out more about the 2022 cut off points for secondary schools in our earlier post.

Additionally, the Eligibility Letter will state if you child is eligible to take a Third Language in secondary school.

End-November: Secondary 1 Posting Exercise

The S1 Internet System (S1-IS) will be open for you to submit your school options from 11.30am on results day. The deadline for submission is 7 days from the PSLE results day, at 3pm. For 2023, the window period for submitting your school options is from 11.30am on Wednesday, 22 November 2023 to 3.00pm on Tuesday, 28 November.

All students need to participate in the posting exercise, unless you have successfully been accepted into a school via DSA. You would still need to submit the option form for Third Language if you want to take it up. If you are applying directly to Singapore Sports School, Crest Secondary School, or Spectra Secondary School, you should still submit the option form as the school posting will serve as a backup in case the direct application to the school is unsuccessful.

If you are not satisfied with the posting, you may appeal to change your child’s school:
