A New Era Of Tuition: Stay Connected With Hybrid Classes

Hybrid and online tuition classes meet the needs of shifting learning habits. Discover the advantages of our new teaching format.

Now you can zoom, screenshot, record, and replay lessons at your convenience.

Hybrid learning is a new medium of teaching that Future Academy has been piloting ever since the COVID-19 restrictions were lifted. This was to cater to students who may not be comfortable coming down to our classrooms to learn, but yet we wanted to welcome those who wanted to come back to class.

Hybrid learning is when we have some students attending a tuition class in-person with the tutor, and some students attend at the same time via online video conferencing. Thus, online and onsite students can participate and listen to the class in real-time. Online and onsite students can also interact with the tutor, using class time to ask questions, clarify doubts, and discuss ideas.

Advantages of hybrid tuition classes

After trying out hybrid tuition classes for a while, we have realised it is a good way to move forward. As students’ learning habits and preference change, so should our way of delivering and teaching lessons.

  • Shifting learning habits

As educators, we have witnessed firsthand the shift in learning habits. Students increasingly rely on digital devices to perform activities like taking notes and keeping track of deadlines. Give them any hardcopy notes, and they’ll take a photo of it, and annotate it on their iPad.

This is even more common in schools where they mandate every student to own their own tablet. And more schools will be hopping onto the bandwagon, as MOE aims to have every secondary school student owning their own personal digital device by 2028 (source).

With this shift, many students are already comfortable with digital modes of learning, including learning through video conferencing. Hybrid classes allows us to accommodate both types of learners – the digital nomads and those who still appreciate the experience of learning face-to-face with the tutor.

  • Ease of reviewing lessons

How many times have you walked out of a class, only to have promptly forgotten what the teacher said? Or perhaps you were reviewing your notes 5 days later, and you couldn’t recall the teacher’s explanation?

Video-recorded lessons solves these type of problems, making it all the more convenient to review and revisit lessons. Sure, in-person classes can be recorded, but virtual classes are far easier to record using in-built recording functions. Besides, there won’t be the problem of poor viewing angles as the whiteboard is also digital, ensuring it is always sharp and in frame.
