Registration window for private candidates

Students who are enrolled in a secondary school will be registered for the O Levels by their school. Otherwise, you can also register as a private candidate. For example, students who are homeschooled, foreigners residing in Singapore, or students who are retaking their O Levels can apply as private candidates.

The window for registration as a private O Level candidate for the 2026 exams was from 7 April 2026 to 20 April 2026. If you are planning to register in future, you can expect the registration period to be at a similar time next year.

2026 O Level Exam Timeline

The O Level examinations are spread across several months, starting with the Mother Tongue Language written papers in June, and ending with the written papers for most other subjects in October and November.

Here is a rough breakdown of when the major papers will take place:

June: Mother Tongue Language written papers

July: Oral and Listening Comprehension exams

Late July to August: Third Language oral exams

September: Music and Higher Music practical exams

Late September to October: Science practicals

October: Third Language written papers, Third Language Listening Comprehension papers

Mid-October to November: start of written papers; last paper concludes by 10 November 2026

2026 O Level Results Release

The results of the 2026 O Level exams are expected to be released in between 13 January to 15 January 2027.

When is the best time to start preparing for the O Levels?
