When is the best time to start preparing for the O Levels?

A common question parents ask is: “When should my child start preparing for the O Levels?”

Usually, students start preparing from Sec 3 onwards. Most of the O Level topics are taught in Sec 3 and 4, when students have chosen their subject combination. Starting good study habits like regular revision is crucial for ensuring a strong foundation for all topics.

Tuition for Sec 3 and 4 students is highly popular for these reasons. Having a structured curriculum for revision and practice also prevents last-minute cramming, boosts long-term retention, and provides enough time to catch-up on weaker topics.

Starting from late Sec 3 to Sec 4, students should be spending more time doing mock papers to develop their exam readiness. Students should also use this time to identify weak areas, boosting their efficiency with their teacher or tutor’s individualised feedback and support.

Conclusion

The O Level year can be intense, but with early planning and the right academic support, you/your child can approach the exams with confidence. Keep track of the exam timeline, ensure they stay consistent with revision, and don’t hesitate to seek extra help when needed.

At Future Academy, we offer tuition programmes ranging from O Level Math Tuition to O Level Chemistry Tuition that are aligned with the latest syllabus and exam trends.
